Legends of the Ancient and Modern Throne

Cyrus the Great was born around 600 BCE in the region of Persis, in what is now southern Iran. He was the son of Cambyses I and grew up during a time when the Persians were under the rule of the Median Empire. Around 550 BCE, Cyrus led a successful rebellion against Astyages and united the Persians and Medes under his leadership. This victory marked the beginning of the powerful Achaemenid Empire.
