The success of Alyssa’s treatment prompted researchers to expand the trial to other patients. In total, eight children and two adults with the same aggressive form of leukemia received the therapy. The results were extraordinary: more than eighty percent of patients achieved deep remission, meaning that no detectable cancer remained in their bodies. Nearly two-thirds of them continued to be disease-free three years after treatment.
