Kambiz Atabay was a figure whose life reflected both the grandeur and the turbulence of twentieth-century Iran. Born on March 4, 1939, in Tehran, he was not only a child of privilege but also a man whose intellect and discipline allowed him to rise beyond his family’s aristocratic roots. Though some sources mistakenly claimed he was born in Gorgan or Gonbad Kavus, his origins were firmly Tehranian, shaped by a household deeply connected to the political and military establishment of the Pahlavi era. His father, Abolfath Atabay, served in high administrative positions within the royal court, while his mother, Dr. Badri Atabay, was among the first professional female librarians of modern Iran.
