Detective Chief Inspector Jason Joyce, leading the investigation, said officers believe Mokhtarian was deliberately targeted during his evening walk. “This was a calculated and reckless act that has deeply disturbed our community,” Joyce stated. “People should feel safe walking through their neighborhoods, and an incident like this is unacceptable. We are treating it as a premeditated and targeted shooting.” Police have appealed for witnesses and released limited descriptions of a male suspect believed to have been inside the red Audi prior to it being set alight.
