During his postgraduate years, Farokhzad entered a joint research program between MIT and Harvard, where he explored the rapidly evolving field of nanomedicine. Working in the stimulating and competitive research environment of MIT’s chemical engineering laboratories, he began to see how nanoparticles could be engineered to interact with biological systems in ways that traditional medical tools could never achieve. This period transformed his understanding of what science could accomplish and solidified his commitment to using engineering principles to solve some of medicine’s most difficult problems.
