Despite his accomplishments, Prokudin-Gorsky’s work faced significant challenges. The outbreak of World War I and the subsequent Russian Revolution disrupted his project and forced him to leave the country. His extensive collection of negatives, prints, and equipment became scattered during the upheaval. Some materials were lost, while others were stored, sold, or carried across borders. Prokudin-Gorsky settled first in Norway, then in England, and finally in France, where he continued to work but never regained the full momentum of his earlier years.2025 © ShinyBerry.com
