Luigi Pesce and the First Photographic Encounters with Persepolis

As the nineteenth century progressed, new photographers and travelers arrived in Iran, building upon the foundation that Pesce had helped establish. His approach to documenting Persepolis influenced later figures who sought to combine scientific precision with artistic composition. In this sense, Pesce played a transitional role, bridging early experimental photography and the more systematic archaeological photography that developed toward the end of the century.
