One of the most impressive parts of the system is the Shadorvan Bridge-Dam, which served as both a dam and a bridge across the river. This dual-purpose structure regulated the water level and diverted it into subsidiary canals, while also connecting different parts of the city. Built with large stone blocks and mortar, the dam has withstood centuries of floods and erosion, demonstrating the durability of ancient Iranian construction techniques. The presence of sluice gates and water outlets shows the advanced hydraulic knowledge of the time, enabling precise control of water flow and preventing damage during periods of high discharge.
