Experts in biometric photography and passport services have repeatedly warned travelers not to wear white or very light-colored clothing when having their passport photos taken. Roman Yagudaev, CEO and founder of a passport service company, explained that wearing white creates problems because passport photos are usually taken against a white or cream-colored background. This causes the person’s clothing to blend in with the background, making it difficult to distinguish between the two. In digital processing, the contrast between the subject and the background is crucial for accurate identification.
