From Rest House to Global Icon: The Story of the UAE’s First Hotel in Sharjah (1932)

Compared to today’s luxurious hotels, this first building was simple and functional. It consisted of a few modest rooms equipped with basic beds, along with a small dining area where meals could be served. Despite its limited facilities, the hotel was significant because it introduced the idea of structured, service-oriented lodging in the Emirates. For the first time, visitors arriving by air had access to accommodation that was specifically built to serve their needs.
