Ultimately, trustworthiness is built on a foundation of reliability and consistency. We trust people when we know that their actions will align with their stated values. The religious pretender’s actions are, by definition, inconsistent with their stated values. They are not who they claim to be, and this fundamental misalignment makes it impossible to rely on them when it truly matters.
